Mission Dolores
Mission Dolores is a vibrant, walkable neighborhood which is mostly flat and 7 blocks long from 20th Street at the South End to Market Street at the north, and 3 blocks wide from Church Street to Valencia St. A main attraction for the younger set is Dolores Park, which, on sunny weekend afternoons, you’ll often find filled with young people in their 20s. From the top of the park, one can experience and photograph unobstructed views of Downtown, particularly incredible at sunset as the huge vertical behemoths reflect the changing light. You can also walk your dog, play tennis, watch your children in the play area, or just relax in the sun. Public transportation from anywhere in this area is close and efficient.
Mission Dolores highlights include Dolores Street, with its numerous palm trees waving in the breeze the full length of the district. The tranquility of some lesser-known streets is surprising! Wander and you’ll find secluded tree-lined streets like Linda and Hidalgo that you never knew existed. These small residential pockets include some spectacular and exclusive homes. Other areas are full of multifamily residential homes and apartments where co-living is popular.
